Chicago Millennium Celebration

For the City of Chicago’s celebration of the new millennium, Crosby Associates’ approach was to playfully reorganize the elements of the city’s flag into a symbol that was fresh and unexpected yet familiar, human, and emblematic of the city. Banners along Chicago’s major thoroughfares announced the beginning of the three-year celebration. The city’s two major water resources, Lake Michigan and deep artesian, were called out on themed water bottles sold at retail stores, included in gift packages, and distributed in leading Chicago hotels. Clothing, gift wrap, glassware, and an “Information a la Cart” mobile brochure rack used at the city’s spring and summer festivals, all featured the Millennium logo as part of this comprehensive identity program.
